    there is a crisis?

What makes a man godly? What makes a man willing to lay down his life for God with no regrets like the great men we read about in the past. People like Hudson Taylor, David Livingstone, Jim Elliot, John Wesley etc.? And yes, I am talking about MAN.

I began to think about this during a meeting where we were praying for the "sheep" under our care. And it seems that the "problematic" ones are mainly guys!! What is happening? Then I recall of times when I hear of how many many guys struggle to let go and let God take control of their lives, how they struggle to serve God while pursuing the things of this world, how they seek a "balanced life" rather than a total surrendered life to Him. As much as I say these things, I am also talking about myself. I too entertained thoughts of giving up, of being nominal, of just doing the bare minimum in the community, not wanting to do more for fear of being loaded with more and lose my "freedom".

If you ask me why, I guess it all boils down to the fact that we have now so sunk into the world's value system, we MAN begin to evaluate our worth by it's standards. Too many loves, too many desires, too many wants clouds us from pursuing what matters to God. The early forefathers saw the worth and hope in "leaving their nets behind to follow Him". Do I see my faith in the same light? I pray that this will be so for me and also for the guys in the community I am in. May we truly have a breakthrough and find that doing His work is really "food" that energizes and refreshes us.
