    and the gift goes on...

    It's coming to the time of the year again, Christmas. This year's Christmas is relatively special for me. Not because I won anything or received something great or found a girlfriend. But it's simply because I had the opportunity to re-look into the Christmas story again and again and again while preparing to equip students to share this story to their friends and for a session I had to take to share with a youth group this age old story. Probably the older one gets, the more easy it is for one to take this age old story for granted. But as I prepared and even shared this to various people, I'm finding it more and more amazing, more and more unbelievable. Amazing that God would actually plan this even before creation and unbelievable that Jesus would choose to come as a baby in a manger for you and me.

    Isa 9:6 says,

    6 For to us a child is born,

    to us a son is given;
    and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
    and his name shall be called
    Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

    People have given sermons just focusing on this verse alone but in my finite understanding and preparation, this is indeed the greatest gift that God has given us. Reason being:

    • As the Wonderful Counselor, He came to show and teach us the right way to live our lives purposefully
    • As the Mighty God, He came and perform great miracles, healings and signs. But the greatest act was when He died on the cross for you and me even though He did no wrong
    • As the Everlasting Father, He did not stay in the grave but rose again to show us that He can indeed save and deliver us from our biggest problem
    • As the Prince of Peace, He has reconciled us, who were once enemies with God, back to Him once again

    Indeed this is one gift you and I should not miss out on because the best part of this gift is that it is freely given to us. Such a reminder refreshes me and gives me hope in this world though things can get difficult at times. May it refresh you as much as it did for me. Blessed Christmas!! :)
