"Convictions are built during the peaceful times of our lives. Because when life hits us hard, it simply surfaces our convictions..."
I think sometimes we get the idea that convictions are build through hardships. Though there may be some value in that statement, but as I think about it, I don't think it's entirely true all the time. More than often, when hardships hit us, we become emotional and irrational and unable to put all the biblical principles we have learnt into practice. So what happens is we come out of the experience defeated and upset with ourselves. It is like IPPT. IPPT don't make us stronger, it simply reveals how we fail to meet the mark. It is the preparation before the test that makes us stronger. When we fail our IPPT, we come out disappointed (or nonchalant, depending on the individual) with the result.
So I am glad that in the last difficulty I experienced, I have come out stronger, because the Lord has prepared me by strengthening my convictions within to handle the situation. The reality of His Word became so real, so near, so needful to tell me what's the right thing to do. I am glad He has prepared me during the peaceful seasons of my life to handle the rough waters of life!
