Sometimes a person who has toiled with wisdom and knowledge and skill must leave everything to be enjoyed by someone who did not toil for it. This also is vanity…The way the world works is interesting... An individual works very very hard to gain the recognition and success in this world but finally at the end of the road, he/she can't hold on to those things gain when he/she enters the grave. So what happens to what has been gained? Either it becomes lost or it will be handed down to the next fellow who may not work as hard as the individual did but gets it by default. Some see it as unfair when all the hard work you put in goes into the hands of someone not as deserving. But this is how one would think if he thinks with an earthly perspective.
Or in view of the recent deaths of renowned leaders in Singapore, all the hard work they have put in is now enjoyed by the citizens of the nation. At the end of the road, they may be satisfied and comforted to know that they have done their best but how long will their contributions stand against the test of time?
In view of planning for the ministry next year, the comfort I have is that whatever I plan is to lay the path for others to walk on. I am not building my own empire and whatever good that comes out from the planning, all glory goes to God alone and not myself. And it has an impact that will last for eternity. Now this is the heavenly perspective.
