just do it... the old school way...

Was reading up on the late John Wooden, apparently a basketball coach who left a legacy behind for the players whom he had a personal touch on. Every coach have a coaching philosophy and here's one of his maxim:

"Success is peace of mind which is a direct result of self satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to do the best of which you are capable of."

One of the thing I read about him was how he choose to focus on good plays rather than showy individual skills. In a society that focuses on talents and show, I guess Mr. Wooden's style of coaching would not receive much applause in this generation of youths. Probably many would turn him off as a joy killer or unappreciative or find his ways too strict and then run away from training.

I guess it is the same when it comes to ministry. In a society where almost everything is instantaneous and depending on how charismatic you are, who would bother to sit down and spend hours reading the Bible or pound the streets to share the old old story of Jesus Christ to people who are just rushing from place to place?

How I wised I had a coach like him to coach me when I was younger. But I am thankful to have good Christians who has watched me grow up and helped me in this journey.

    Nonetheless, he has inspired me.
