    the doulos experience...

    ..
Went on-board the Doulos for the first time in my life with Manyiu, Hong Guo, Benjamin and Irwin. Other than the fact that we were catching a movie in vivo city, I wanted to go largely due to the fact that I heard that it will be de-commissioned (a.k.a scrapped) after their visit in Singapore. So up we went and visited the bookshop (that's the only thing to go that's free... haha... the tour need to pay and got specific timing one...) and got some stuff. Benjamin fulfills his promise to me by getting me a red wrist band as a Christmas gift! I bought a book for Manyiu and also a gift for Wenxing's birthday. There's really good bargains up there, a pity that I don't have the resources to get more stuff. Haiz.

One of the things I thought about was this. Doulos, a 1977 ship is recognized in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's oldest active ocean-going passenger ship and it's motto is to bring knowledge, help and hope wherever they dock. Finally after 32 years, they decided it's time to stop, part of the reason being the cost to maintain an old ship is no joke. What about me? Will I be found actively serving God and stay true to my convictions about service even after 32 years? I have merely been in full time for 3 years and sometimes I already feel the toil of it. How then can I then be like William Borden, a missionary who did not even make it to the mission field who resolutely decided "No Reserves", "No Retreats" & "No Regrets"? This will be one question I need to seek an answer to in the coming year...
