Lord I want to know You...

Been reading up this devotion on the various names of God used in the Bible and it has been interesting and refreshing so far. Thot I should consolidate my thots by blogging it down so as to help me remember what I learnt...

He is Elohim (God The Creator)
Remembering why God made us is important. That way, we can truly live life the way it was intended to be. And from Scriptures, we know that we are created for His Glory and thus we represent Him (Isa 43) and we are created for His Pleasure and thus we do His Will (Rev 4:11)

He is El-Elyon (God Most High)
Knowing that He is the Most High is assuring. Though the external circumstances may seem to go against us, we can still trust that He is in control. Job is the perfect example to learn from. Though the circumstances dealt on him seems crazy (i.e. lost of children, property, wealth, health), he held on to what He believed and understood God to be and finally walked out of the situation victorious.

He is El-Roi (God who sees)
Understanding that He is a God who sees is comforting. Comforting to know that the moments when I am down and no one knows, He does. Comforting to know that when I am wronged, I do not need to vindicate myself for God will do so during Judgement Day. Comforting to know that God is still on top of the situation even though the circumstances may seem dire. This is especially real last week when within me I was struggling with the responsibilities I had to do. The feeling of giving up and that no one seems to understand was very real. But remembering that the Lord sees, I am comforted to know that He knows and that He is watching over me though I may think that I cannot handle it anymore.

Some call such an understanding about God as mystical/superstitious/fictitious. To think that there is "someone" who made us for a purpose, who is in control of everything and who sees and understands what we are going through may seem unbelievable and too nice a thing to be. But if God is truly who He said Himself to be, shouldn't it drive one to hope, trust and comfort instead? At least it did for me... It makes living on this world purposeful...
